Afghanistan Bomb Attacks Kill Twenty-One US Soldiers in 48 hours

Twenty-two American troops have been killed in Afghanistan since Friday in one of the bloodiest periods of the summer.

A series of bomb attacks have badly hit US troops in eastern and southern Afghanistan in the past 48 hours.

Deaths have risen consistently each year since 2001. Afghan police and civilians have suffered far higher casualties.

The coalition blames the rise in troop deaths partly on the influx of reinforcements, which is allowing commanders to target previously untouched insurgent safe havens where rebels are mounting stiff resistance.

Homemade bombs using old shells or homemade explosives and hidden in roads, tracks, walls, streams and buildings have become the Taliban's favoured weapon.

Their use has sparked an arms race with foreign troops evolving tactics, or relying on more heavily armed vehicles and mine detectors to try and avoid them.

Seven NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan

KABUL : Seven U.S.-led troops were killed in five separate incidents in eastern and southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, sources and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.

Three service members were killed following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in eastern Afghanistan, the alliance said in a press statement. A fourth service member was killed as a result of an insurgent attack also in eastern Afghanistan.

In southern Afghanistan, two service members were killed. One of them died in an insurgent attack, while the second service member died as a result of an IED attack.

Anti-government militants attacked a convoy of a private security company in Zabul province south of Afghanistan Monday night killing two guards and set on fire over a dozen vehicles, spokesman for provincial government Mohammad Jan Rasoulyar said Tuesday.

"The Taliban rebels attacked the convoy of a security company in Shahr-e-Safa district Monday night killing two guards, wounding five and set ablaze 15 vehicles," Rasoulyar told Xinhua.

However, he failed to identify the name of the company, saying it escorts logistic convoys of NATO-led troops in the province.

He also said that all those killed and injured were Afghans.

Taliban militants have speed up activities against Afghans and NATO-led troops based in Afghanistan.

Вообще наблюдается очень резкий рост результативности СВУ, плюс под конец месяца у них резко пошли потери вверх. Может там с Ирана пришел конвой груженных ишаков с новыми минами?
