The Eton schoolboys who were granted an audience with President Putin at the Kremlin serenaded their hosts with a rendition of Jerusalem.


While their audacity raised eyebrows at home, and some consternation within Eton College, the boys won glowing reviews in Moscow for their good manners, modesty and an apparently deep interest in the Orthodox church.

The Russian priest who hosted their visit, and who is rumoured to be Mr Putin’s personal confessor, has given a colourful account of what he called the boys’ “unforgettable adventure”.
